Online ticket purchase

When booking online, select your origin and destination, travel date, train, preferred class, seat(s), personal information, and pay with M-Pesa. Please make sure all your information are correct, before confirming your purchase. You will receive an e-ticket confirmation via SMS and email, after payment. If you are not booking online, you may purchase your tickets physically at one of our stations. Tickets are available at the counter at the respective termini/stations, between 07:00 am and 04:00 pm. You may pay by cash or debit/credit card.

About Tickets

The ticket is a valuable train taking proof, so please keep them properly. The railway authorities shall not accept the ticket if they are broken, stained, altered, or unrecognizable.

The ticket is only valid for carriage on the date trip, the station of departure and destination indicated on the ticket.

If a ticket is lost, the passenger has to buy another ticket. If a ticket is lost in the train, the passenger has to pay extra ticket price counting from the losing station (in case the losing station cannot be identified, count from the starting station). If a ticket is found lost when arriving at the destination station, the passenger shall be deemed as without a ticket.

Children Policies

The Railway station will not accept any children who are traveling alone.

Children between 3-11 years travelling with adults will get a 50 per cent discount

Children over 11 years old must pay the full ticket price

Each adult passenger can bring 1 child of 3 years or below. The child will travel free of charge.

In case an adult passenger is travelling with two or more children, the other children must pay half the ticket price.

Cases where a passenger is travelling with twins, triplets or quadruplets, the children shall be deemed as one (1) child provided there is proof of birth e.g a birth certificate. One is thus encouraged to carry all relevant certificates and present them at the counter in such cases. For cases where proof of birth is not available, the child will be required to pay the full ticket amount.
